Baghdad, IRAQ--4/13/03 -- A local Iraqi resident pokes her head out from behind her gate as Charlie Company 3-69 soldiers make a neighborhood check to speak and listen to local Iraqi residents of that neighborhood along Highway 8 between the airport and downtown near Charlie Company's blocking positions protecting Task Force 3-69. Locals are very anxious for news of when water and power will be restored as well as offering vital information of where Iraqi military types are in their areas. Many offered the same words as one woman pleading that the US, "Kill Saddam! We want him dead so he can never return." And many of these residents have family or relatives living in the US in part of Northern Californian as well as Houston, TX and have not seen or talked to them in years since they fled Iraq. Charlie Company not only blocks the check points and areas to the rear but provides mounted and dismounted patrols day and night now to secure these neighborhoods from looting and other Iraqi military attacks. Just the night before this meeting, three homes in this area along the highway were looted by Iraqis and now the neighbors plead with the soldiers for help in protecting their homes and property at night.
