6/2/04 -- Port-au-Prince, Haiti -- Waiting in the hallways of the City of God girls orphanage. Brother St. Vistal Pierre started a girls orphanage in December 1990 known as Centre dÌAccueil FCCM in the Port-au-Prince area known as City of God, one of the poorest spots in Haiti. As a 17-yearold student at the monastery of Sain Gerard in Carrefour Feuille, Brother St. Vistal realized his mission was for the helping of children of Haiti. Today, the city of God orphanage shelters 45 girls ranging from ages 3-16 and many of these girls do not even know their own last names. The facility does not have an established budget . ÏWe will have to continue anyway possible,Ó says Brother St. Vistal. With aid and money accepted from the Catholic Diocese of Nowrich, CT who have sponsored the orphanage and aid relief agency Cross International of Boca Raton, Florida, the orphanage continues to expand and offer more children both girls and boys help with (Photo by Jack Gruber, USA TODAY) ORG XMIT: Q1L-0406081817262967
