Nick and Ginger Sweeney check out a $400 a month rental home with no appliances in Marshall, MO after a landlord was contacted by the American Red Cross volunteer Jean Harms. The landlord was very receptive and willing to help get the family into his rental home by waiving the deposit and telling the couple he would wait until their first paycheck for the rent. He would even help with getting the utilities turned on. However, the home was very rough shape and the front door would not even shut. The door had to be fastened with a metal piece of clothes hanger to keep it shut.

"I think we would be better off in our tents than in this house The safety of my kids comes first." noted Nick.
