PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI -- A Haitian orphan named Jack, 10, is fully disabled and unable to talk or move on his own. He is carried back to his bed by a Mercy House care giver after spending the morning outside.
Mercy house is an orphanage created by Playboy Miss May 1983 centerfold Susie Krabacher who founded the Foundation for Worldwide Mercy and Sharing, a charity dedicated to the needs of Haitian children who make up 75 percent of Haiti's nearly eight million people. Mercy House provides a shelter for a small number of abandoned children in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Nearly 90 children, many severely disabled and mentally handicapped are given a chance at life. Without Mercy House, most would certainly die without the "mothers" who care for their needs and the shelter provided by the orphanage.
