Jack Gruber | Photojournalist Memphis Police officers lift handcuffed Malcom Ford, 17, over a fence after the youth was apprehended following a fight with a police officer at a nearby high school. The youth returned to school following a suspension and East High School officer Donald Garrett sought the youth out to question him regarding a robbery. A struggle ensued and the officer was hurt. Ford ran from school to a nearby drainage ditch trying to elude officers in pursuit. The youth was charged with resisting, evading and assualt to an officer. © 2000 The Commercial Appeal
